PREGNANT women in Lae will soon be able to have their babies cared for in a new special care nursery at the Angau Memorial Hospital.
Nurse unit manager at Angau Sr Teba Anterea said she was as excited as her staff about moving into the new nursery, which would be opened soon.
“At first, I was nervous about moving into the new building as it has new equipment and improved building management systems, but after the walk-through, the familiarisation visits and training, my team and I are confident that we can deliver service in the new facility,” Sr Anterea said.
“Thank you to the Australian government for providing this much-needed building to the people of Morobe.”
The Australian High Commission, in a statement, said the nursery was part of the new paediatric wing at Angau.
The wing will have new facilities for the birthing ward, children’s outpatient department, paediatric ward and now the new nursery.
