PEOPLE of Angoram in East Sepik, have been neglected when it comes to vital government services, a businessman says.
Angoram businessman and community leader Francis Tobias said people were struggling to get access to government services in the district headquarters.
“Angoram was the least developed district in the province with no electricity, no water supply, deteriorating school infrastructures, law and order issues, no bank, rural aid post being closed for years and the district health hospital lacking medical equipment, among other issues,” he said.
Tobias said leadership was based on trust and quality, and people deserved quality government services.
“Quality means quality education, quality health services, quality infrastructure and quality policing work,” he said.
Tobias urged MPs to get their priorities right and put their people first and deliver services to them.
“Most districts across the country are yet to be developed and Angoram is one of those least developed district in the province and the country since independence.”
Tobias said Angoram had been ignored for years by successive governments.
“Angoram is the district of the founding father of this country, the late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.
He urged the MPs and the government to see the real problems that the people faced every day and find sustainable solutions to them.
