THE annual Throwdown-in-Vula (TiV) community event in Rigo’s Hula village is set to return on Saturday with the aim of promoting fitness and community-focused activities.
TiV founder and CrossFit Level-1 coach Kila Kilaverave said the event enabled the community to participate in fitness competition and activities such as other parts of the world.
“I believe in promoting the lifestyle of those living in the village,” Kilaverave said.
“Their need to reel in the anchor on a dingy or carry buckets of water on a daily basis is what keeps them fit.
“Pair this with the importance of eating fresh seafood and wholesome garden produce, is what enables them to stay healthy and minimise the chances of chronic diseases.”
Kilaverave said the event would see locals from Hula and the nearby villages participate in the competition with an open male and female category for those over the age of 18, master’s category for males and females over 50 years and females over 40 years and kids event for ages 4-13 years.
