Another adjournment for drug case

THE cases of an Australian pilot, an Italian yacht owner and the three nationals facing charges related to the country’s biggest drug bust last July will return to court in a week’s time after police asked for an adjournment.
Pilot David John Cutmore, yacht owner Carlo D’Attanasio and locals Dominic Terupo, Morgan Mogu and Shane Dikana will appear in court on June 24 because police prosecutor in carriage of their matters Boas Binuali needed more time to respond to submissions.
Central Committal Court Magistrate Alex Kalandi will rule on Cutmore’s case and hear prosecution response to submissions by D’Attanasio, Terupo, Mogu and Dikana.
Cutmore and D’Attanasio were remanded at the Bomana Immigration Detention Centre while Terupo and Mogu were remanded at the Bomana Correctional Service.
Dikana’s National Court bail was extended, with conditions.
The drug bust on July 26 at Papa-Lealea villages when a Cessna 402C twin-engine aircraft operated by Cutmore, crashed into trees as it tried to take off with more than 600kg of cocaine.
