ANZ is the lead arranger and the commercial banking facility for the PNG LNG project, according to outgoing chief executive officer Vishnu Mohan during a leadership session at the University of Papua New Guinea yesterday.
He said the bank’s competitive advantage is its ability to follow trade investments and people’s flow all across the world.
Mohan highlighted that the bank has experienced a boost in its workforce with 40% of managerial positions taken up by nationals including females.
He was proud to announce that most of them have significant and potential leadership qualities and he was confident that they will manage new wealth and build the country’s infrastructure.
Moreover, the bank’s focus is on improving health and education facilities and help the majority open up accounts with ANZ.
“ANZ has grown efficiently over the years.
“It is the only bank in the region that is connected globally,” he said.
“The bank also resolved all labour issues and now there are more nationals in top positions”.
“I’m confident that the bank will continue to manage its wealth and build the country’s infrastructure with focus on health and education.
“ANZ also want to help bank the unbank”, he said.
Business activities in Papua New Guinea have grown significantly and ANZ is working on introducing mobile phone banking to customers later this year.
Mohan said he was proud to have taken PNG to the international market and showcased the country’s impact projects to other potential investors
