ANZ Bank chief executive Mike Smith is visiting Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga and the Cook Islands.

Smith’s Pacific visit comes as ANZ’s Pacific headquarters completes a successful transition from Melbourne to Suva, Fiji.

“The shift of ANZ’s Pacific headquarters to Fiji is a further demonstration of our commitment to the region where we have a long and proud history,” Smith said.

ANZ has had a presence in the Pacific for more than 100 years and currently operates in 12 Pacific nations, employing about 2,000 people.

“We are continuing to invest and grow across the Pacific,” Smith said.

“Growing our Pacific business is part of our strategy to build a super regional bank.

“In the Pacific, that means providing great local service as well as unique connectivity for our customers within the Pacific and to Australia, New Zealand and Asia.”
