THE PNG Defence Force has developed a journal for the 2018 Apec Security Operations which will remain an intellectual property of the PNGDF to support major events in the future.
PNGDF Chief of Staff Captain Philip Polewara and Chief of Force Preparation Colonel Siale Diro told a two day debrief with senior officers of PNGDF and Police who were engaged in the Joint Security Task Force during the 2018 Apec Leader’s summit in Port Moresby.
The debrief was attended by representatives from the Australian Defence Force, United States Defence Force, New Zealand and Indonesia who assisted PNG during the event.
Diro said the journal was an analysis of the entire security operations between 2013 and 2018.
“The journal will remain an intellectual property of the PNGDF and it contains recommendations and lesion learnt as well as experiences and the successful strategies and work plans in ensuring a very safe and secure Apec Leader’s Summit in Port Moresby last year,” he said.
Diro said the security operations of Apec was delivered to a very high standard, on par with the rest of the world.
“With security support and assistance from our bilateral partners like Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Indonesia and others, we have delivered the best every security operations during the Apec,” he said.
Head of Australian Defence Staff Colonel James Kidd commended the Papua New Guinea Defence Force and said the lessons and experiences gained during the Apec security operations were important.
