THE United States Embassy in Port Moresby says applications for the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs is open to give 50 local women the chance to raise their business profiles.
The academy is a new programme supporting women entrepreneurs around the world. It is in support of the White House-led Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative.
It equips women with practical skills needed to create sustainable businesses.
PNG women will be given opportunities to explore business fundamentals, including creating business plans and raising capital, with the goal of building a better future for their families and communities.
The Department of State has partnered with the Center for Private Enterprise through the PNG Women Business Resource Center to administer the programme. The other partners include ExxonMobil, Coca-Cola, and Pacifika Women Network.
“Women have a key role to play in Papua New Guinea’s future prosperity,” Ambassador Catherine Ebert-Gray said.
