Appoint executives for EHP health authority

Letters

THE Eastern Highlands health authority has no appointed executives to oversee the running of the health system in the province.
There are vacancies are created after former chief executive officer Dr Joseph Apa’s four-year term expired two months and chairman Malcolm Kela Smith passed away recently.
Under the Provincial Health Authority Act 2007, it is the responsibility of the governor to appoint a new board or a new board chairman into a board and not anybody else.
Therefore, it is now the responsibility of Governor Peter Numu appoint the new board and executives.
The surge of the Covid-19 in Eastern Highlands is getting out of hand and many people have lost their lives.
We need a new health authority chairman and chief executive.
