AROMA Coast Sevens coach Billy Rapilla has announced a 15-man training squad to prepare for the Black Orchid 7s tournament in Buka from June 11-12.
The squad was finalised after the successful staging of the third Wari Vele Aroma Coast 7s tournament held in Kapari on April 15-16.
The team will be trimmed to a final 12-man travelling squad.
The squad will assemble on May 8 to start training and prepare for five weeks leading up to the tournament.
The side has retained six players from last year’s Kimbe 7s tournament and two from the 2009 PNG 7s challenge.
The final side is expected to be named at the end of May.
The squad: Roland Namo, Aaron Garo, Iamo Ano (Viriolo); Madi Ora, Gairo Agi (Kapari 1); Iala Roko, Heni Herea, Ray Vagi (Vewala Pelagai); Alova Varo, Gairo Varo, Ora Roy, Kapani Robert (Maopa Paio); Billy Torea, Steven Gia (Raukele Emborah); Douglas Guise (Port Moresby).
The tournament in Kapari had unearthed several talents with skill and speed and “we believe we have selected a very strong team to represent the Abau district”.
“With this side we believe we will be competitive at the Black Orchid 7s tournament,” Rapilla said.
“In the last two tournaments, Aroma Coast finished 3rd overall in the Cup semi-finals and we are confident we can go one better this year.”
All players named are advised to contact the team management on 7274 7420 or 7215 9642 to confirm their availability to start training.
