A WARRANT of arrest was issued by the Waigani Committal Court yesterday for a man after he had breached his bail conditions.
Police prosecutor Snr Const Peter Samghy applied for the warrant after Laurie Perry, 31, of Moroma village in Kerowagi, Chimbu, had threatened the complainant with a pistol last Dec 26.
“I made an application for a warrant of Perry’s arrest given that he had threatened the complainant,” Samghy said.
“He breached a bail condition of non-interference and a condition not to commit any other offence.”
Magistrate Seth Tanei granted the application and would be reviewed on Feb 25.
“The defendant breached his bail condition by interfering with the State witness and committed offence of threatening,” Magistrate Tanei said.
“Therefore I grant the application and set his bail of K500 aside.”
Perry was alleged to have on Sept 27, last year, damaged metal gates belonging to Api Numapo, at 8-Mile Malolo Estate valued at K4,840.
It was alleged that Perry went to Numapo’s house and was calling for his (Numapo’s) wife while Numapo and his wife were out of the province.
Perry allegedly rammed the gate with the bumper of his car.
