AN arson suspect’s house was allegedly burned down in retaliation for the burning down of a Rigo officer’s house in Kwikila, Central, a senior police official says.
Central police commander Chief Insp Tapp Opai said his officers had started investigating the burning down of the district officers’ house when his relatives burned down a suspect’s house.
“We are now investigating the burning down of two houses at Kwikila Station in Rigo,” he said.
Chief Insp Opai said they were yet to establish the motive for the initial arson case.
“We don’t know why the district officer’s house was burned,” he said. Chief Insp Opai said nine suspects were arrested for allegedly burning down the district officer’s house on Jan 29.
Meanwhile, a source in Kwikila said the district officer’s house contained Covid-19 relief supplies for the Rigo North local level government that were there since last year.
