A 21-YEAR-OLD man charged with intent to steal and assault was remanded by Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Tracy Ganaii on Friday.
Junior David, of Tindom village in Nipa-Kutubu, Southern Highlands, was charged with one count of intent to steal from Toua Pisongul at Gordon bus stop in Port Moresby.
It was alleged that on June 6, at around 1pm, David saw Pisongul walking out of the Gordon Secondary School gate towards her home nearby and followed her.
When Pisongul was at the Jade Islands shop area, next to where the Waigani route buses stop, David confronted her and grabbed her by the hips but she shrugged him off. He kept following Pisongul and this time, grabbed her by her shirt telling her to stop moving.
Pisongul fended him off but David pursued her and punched her in the face.
Pisongul threw a Coke can at David who continued assaulting her.
During the assault, Pisongul also sustained a cut above her left eyebrow from a knife David had.
The public rescued Pisongul and took David to the Gordon police station where he was formally arrested and charged with assault and with intent to steal under section 388 of the Criminal Code Act and detained at Boroko police station cell. His case was adjourned to July 20.

  • lets each one of us citizens take responsibility and end such primitive behavior and send them to where they belong.

    Stand up and support that one in need..dont look and walk away.. Together we can make a difference?

    Well done for those who assisted here

  • Citizen’s Arrest.
    Well done. Everyone should act accordingly to protect the innocent lives from those who are;
    1) preying on them,
    2) causing nuisance in the public due to the intake of any form of illegal sunstance,
    3) a threat to the general public and etc.

  • Such behavior is uncalled for especially when the female fended him off and he kept following her and grabbing her then punched her, my goodness. What is he up to who does he think he is, his boyfriend or husband. This is senseless behavior of a person who does not respect the rights of others especially women in a public place and a person who is sick in the head. If he has a sister, mother or aunty he would use some sense in his brain if he has a brain. Such person should go straight to Bomana so why deferring the case.

    • Brainless coward! It would have been better if the public would have beaten him to death. Human being with an animals brain.

  • All petty thieves like this retard dont deserve to live! PNG lets unite and if you see things like these happening to anyone near you, help defend them and beat those thugs up!! A common place is the Koki bus stop area!! To date RPNGC is as slack and shitty still! The little police post there is just useless!!
