THE Divine Word University Alumni Association (DWUAA) Lae chapter donated 40 hampers to mothers and children at Angau Memorial General Hospital’s maternity ward on Friday.
The donation was part of the chapter’s corporate and community engagement programme.
The hampers for babies contained baby blankets, diaper packs, baby oil, shampoo, powder, nappies, wash cloths, bath soaps, mittens and socks.
The hampers for mothers contained toilet tissue, maternity pads, reusable queen pads, bath and laundry soap and laundry powder.
Five litres of hand sanitiser, disposal face masks, medical examination gloves, mixed items of baby clothing and The Voice of Truth international gospel magazines were donated by the DWUAA Lae chapter and friends.
Chapter president Jason Kum said they wanted to donate items to those in need especially women and children.
“We try and put a smile on the faces of mothers with this donation. We want to have a partnership with the hospital were we will make donations in the future,” he said.
Kum said the chapter was keen to engage with the community and help people through such gestures.
