TWO non-governmental organisations received K70,000 in donations yesterday from the Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea (MAPNG).
Gateway Children’s Fund (PNG) Inc received K30,000 and the PNG Children’s Foundation received K40,000.
Gateway Children’s Fund (PNG) Inc project administrator Monica Kaoma said the funds would be used to build new classrooms for its students.
She said the organisation depended mostly on fundraising and donations.
Kaoma said it was the first time they had received a donation from MAPNG and she thanked the association.
She said the Gateway Children’s Fund (PNG) Inc had two schools in the settlements in Port Moresby and they supported and taught the unfortunate children in those settlements.
Kaoma said they had volunteer teachers at the centres. She said the funds would be acquitted and with reports provided to MAPNG.
PNG Children’s Foundation director Yiannis Nicolaou said they were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the donation would help the operation.
He thanked MAPNG for their continued support.
MAPNG president Chew Pang Heng said this year the association did not host fundraisers because of the Covid-19 and donations given yesterday were from funds raised in 2019.
