Association hosts finals, teams hailed

THE Seventh Lunaman Sports Association held its men’s nine-a-side touch and women’s volleyball grand finals in Lae, Morobe, on Sunday.
Steelers beat Robin Hood 3-0 and Gamblers defeated 4-Runner 3-0 in the junior and senior women’s volleyball grand finals respectively.
Lunaman beat BH Dogs and 4-Runner overcame D/T Observers in the junior and senior men’s touch grand finals respectively.
The Office of the Lae MP assisted the association with K10,000 alongside support from business houses Consort Express Lines, Coca-Cola Amatil, Lae International Hotel and JV PNG Construction.
Ward Two councillor Demas Michael said the volleyball and touch seasons started late due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
But through the commitment and hard work of the association, the seasons ended on a high note with the grand finals.
“The teams should be commended for their commitment all season despite the hardships they faced,” Michael said.
“We couldn’t have completed the seasons without the support of our Lae MP John Rosso and other sponsors.”
