Audit report questioned

THE question of audit into a K23 million allocated for Covid-19 became the centre of debate during Parliament on Friday as MPs argued before deputy Speaker Koni Iguan.
Opposition Leader and Vanimo-Green MP Belden Namah asked Treasurer Ling-Stuckey about the audit report into the K23mil.
“While I appreciate the eloquent explanation by the Treasurer on what has happened since the pandemic, we acknowledge that the state of economy in our country is in a very bad state,” Namah said.
“We continue to blame the Covid-19, this government has borrowed more money than any other governments in the history of our country.
“The massive borrowing is one of the contributing factors because there is nothing to show forth on the ground.
“The police minister-cum-auditor and scientist had promised that he would produce the audit report and would be tabled in 14 days, that has now taken months.”
Health and HIV/AIDS Minister Jelta Wong interjected by saying that the audit of the K23mil was tabled in the last session of Parliament when he presented his ministerial statement.
Namah, however, said that he had not sighted any audit report.
He continued with his question that every time he stood up to talk, both the health and police ministers would be jumping up and down.
As Ling-Stuckey was in the process of answering the questions, Police Minister Bryan Kramer interjected with a point of order to question the position of Namah as Opposition leader.
Iguan however ruled out the point of order by Kramer because Speaker Job Pomat had earlier in the week made the statement on the position of the Opposition leader.

  • Opposition Leader Benden Nama is doung a fine job a d giving a lot gof headaches to PMJM and his ministers. Praise God Almighty that Nama is revealing government’s mismanagement and corrupt practise leading up to 2022 national elections. Treasurer Minister Ian Ling Stuckey must now table an update reports to parliament on the statae of our economy and how much hlian have we borriwed so far. We cannot continue to remain silent and allow politician to go on borrowing spree. That K25 million covid19 funds were misused by our politician to go around doing earlycampaigns for 2022 polls. PNG Peopke have bein suffering for a very long time and we need to change the captain ofthe MV PNG and his engineers in 2022 polls. Keep up the good works you will win the battke in the end Belden.

  • Some empty drums who made lot of noises when in opposition are now in government and are very quiet and we believe they are full and overflowing. They can have knowledge but lacks wisdom.

  • [“We continue to blame the Covid-19, this government has borrowed more money than any other governments in the history of our country.]

Fact-check has this statement to be utterly false!!

  • Nama save toktok natinnatin without checking facts. A good opposition should be about alternative plans to address all this issues instead of creating uneccessary anxiety.

  • Namah and his cohort O Neil borrowed more money than the current government or for that matter any other government. Just stop playing politics and be patient and you will see the fruits. Marape is a true leader, he has this country at heart. His police Minister is a true leader. He is weeding out corruption at the highest level which no one else was able to do. Keep going PMJM and BK the silent majority is behind you.

  • PMJM, as soon as BNL was removed from Pogera Mining few of us (people of PNG) came to realize and understand the slogan of your government Taking Back PNG and making it a one of the richest black nation in the world.
Take one more step and this time see if PNG LNG can subject to the new mining act passed recently this year.
This is the approach this government is taking forward so that all the resource sectors are now mend to subject and operate under the new mining act. This government is looking forward to claim back all the resource sectors being operated ever since by foreign investors. Once all our resource sectors are entirely own by the government (us people of PNG) in short that is the time will see the more local investment and influx of kina reserve etc…

  • The last Government acquired K37 billion debt (an increase of K27 billion within 7 years).
In 2015, the national debt of Papua New Guinea amounted to around 5.29 billion U.S. dollars (which is approximately K18 billion Kina with one year alone).
So don’t try to compare otherwise you might make yourself look stupid.
Maski lo toktok nating, nating na pairap olsem pop-corn.
Let this Present Government do what they can to bring the country out of the current recession.
PMJM, you have a task to do and praying that God will help you to deliver us out from the mess created by the previous government in which you are a part of.
I have Trust in Your capability and Leadership.
    God Bless..!!

  • Namah is doing the right thing, something noise maker from previous are now becoming mouth fish when in ministerial portfolio

  • Marape Steven government is the worst and most corrupt government in the history of this great nation. Where is all the money borrowed and given by donor partners in the name of covid 19? Police minister Brian Krammer assured the nation that he will provide the audit report within 7 days and now taking almost 16 months and still waiting for audit report. Is this the type of leaders that we can trust? Why is he dragging? Maybe now he is in power so he can cover everything up and shut all the doors. BK was very vocal when he was in the opposition but now he is very silent. Corruption at its best.
