DURING the course of business, auditors should conduct thorough checks and balances to make sure business are transparent, Minister for Finance James Marape said.

Marape told auditors during the daylong Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) PNG chapter conference yesterday that the internal audit system being used by business houses must be compatible.

“Internal audit system that we have must be compatible (with one another) and healthy to do checks and balances to control the system”.

“This process comes about only at the end of the operational year when auditors check and ensure that everything has been complied with,” Marape said.

However, he said it was important that auditors complied with their roles and responsibilities.

“You have a very important role of making sure that compliance takes place and maximum productivity is reached in every organisation,” Marape said.

He acknowledged ISACA’s International president, who took time to be part of the PNG chapter 16th annual conference.

“Let me commend you for the resources that you bring to this meeting and for your time to be with us.”
