Australian company Emu Sportswear is now the manufacturer of Papua New Guinea Hunters merchandise.
Emu Sportswear managing director John Short said they were honoured to be the apparel supplier for the Hunters, a team that has a huge following in the country.
“Emu Sportswear is an Australian family-owned company created by my great-great grandfather back in 1894,” Short said.
“He was a tailor, so as my great grandfather and my father, and I took over the business 25 years ago.
“We’ve been modernising and we’ve been doing some of the best rugby league gear in the world and we are proud be bring that to the PNG Hunters.
“We are proud to provide rugby league gear to the PNG Hunters because they’re the Queensland Cup champions.
“We also supply gear to four teams in the Q-Cup – Wynnum Manly Seagulls, Norths Devils, Northern Pride and the Townsville Blackhawks.
“Being a Queensland-based business, we’ve always had a strong relationship with Papua New Guinea.
“We met up last year and talked about it.
“Now we are able to provide quality products for the players, and hopefully they can win some more championships.
“While making the best quality sporting gear in the world is better to have a reputable strong retailer to be able to work with and that’s where Brian Bell comes in.
“The market understands that this gear is authentic and Brian Bell is a company we can work with right across Papua New Guinea because they’re a strong business that has been operating in PNG for 60 years.”
