THE Southern Highlands Provincial Health Authority has handed over stationery and items supplies such as lawn mowers and wheelbarrows to rural health facilities in the province.
Authority chief executive officer Dr Joseph Birisi said the 33 major health facilities including district hospitals were given the stationery and equipment supplies.

“The authority (PHA) made an assessment and identified some of what rural health facilities needed.
“But there is room for other equipment which the PHA will look into. If you receive only a spade, do not complain, you will receive other things later.”
Birisi said some equipment were destroyed in the February earthquake.
“Under the PHA structure, many things will be centralised. Ialibu, Pimaga and Nipa district hospitals will be opened will be receiving rations for patients,” he said.
“The health centres and hospitals will now be able to admit patients.”.
Birisi said computer sets installed with software and printers would be given to district health managers to make work easier.
