THE Morobe health authority (PHA) issued a circular on Friday following a surge in the Covid-19 cases in the province.
The circular, No.00017/2021 and dated March 19, was sent to directors of curative and public health services, nursing and other sectional heads in the PHA.
It said all leave for PHA staff was on hold, Angau Hospital operations was scaled down and only emergency cases would be attended to and it would only accept referral patients with referral letters.
This comes after some PHA staff at Angau Hospital were diagnosed with the Covid-19 and were isolated leading to manpower shortages at the hospital.
In another notice by Morobe administrator and provincial emergency operation committee chairman Bart Ipambonj on Friday, strict measures were issued for public to follow province wide lockdown.
He said Morobe was experiencing community transmissions with Lae, Nawaeb, Bulolo, Markham and Huon Gulf recording positive cases over the last three weeks.
Ipambonj said the no-mask-no-entry requirement was in place and all stores, business houses and Government departments and offices had to enforce the measures.
