THE Investment Promotional Authority will be carrying out a database survey and spot inspection for all companies operating in Madang.

According to managing director Ivan Pomaleu, the primary purpose of the exercise was to obtain data and information from the business community in the province and to ensure companies comply with the  legislations administered by IPA as well as other governmental regulatory agencies.

The survey will be carried out by IPA and the Madang provincial administration on May 19-29.

Pomaleu said company owners, shareholders and directors were required to provide certificates of their company’s incorporation as issued by the registrar of companies to the spot inspection team.

He said companies were to provide licences as issued by municipal authorities or local level governments with other licences issued under other government

legislations, while foreign companies must provide their certificate issued by IPA to operate in the country.

Other information such as copies of passport, work permits and visas for foreign workers would be required by the team.

Investor servicing and promotion division director Clarence Hoot said the number of registered and de-registered companies that are currently operating would be verified during this exercise.

Hoot said the exercise would be conducted in all centres as per their work programme.
