THE Mineral Resources Authority will hold a meeting tomorrow in Madang to resolve issues arising from the Yandera gold/copper project.

A company official confirmed with The National that meeting would be attended by MRA officials, representatives from the Yandera Project Landowners Association, officials from developer Era Resources, Bundi district and Madang.

They will also cover issues raised by the Yandera Project Landowners Association.

The landowners of Yandera had planned to close the Era Resources Ltd operations on the project over its lack of response to the association’s requests presented to the project general manager Jon Powel last November.

Association president Mark Kama said the project was going through events it had not experienced after the old management left, and that it was unhealthy for the project and its stakeholders.

“We have noticed that the management under Era Resources promised many things but failed to deliver. Often scheduled work programmes are not completed and mostly are half done,” he said.

However an MRA official confirmed with The National that there was no agreement as yet in terms of benefit-sharing with stakeholders including the landowners.
