A TOTAL of 78 people, including three juveniles, from the Livuan and Vunaulul wards in Kokopo’s Raluana local level government (LLG) have been placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond for fighting.
The 75 adults appeared before the district court yesterday.
They were arrested on Monday by police for fighting and causing damage to properties.
East New Britain police commander Chief Insp Januarius Vosivai said the court placed them all on a 12-month good behaviour bond and warned that any breach of this would see them re-arrested and remanded at Kerevat Prison.
The court also gave them a day to pay their K500 bail. Failing to do so will result in an eight-month prison term at Kerevat.
Of the 78 suspects, 44 were from Livuan ward and of the 44, three were juveniles and 34 were from Vunaulul ward.
In the meantime, Chief Insp Vosivai said, they were following up on the case of the body of young woman that was found on Saturday near Kaivuna Hotel in Rabaul.
He said the body was at the Nonga Hospital morgue waiting for a post mortem.
