A TOTAL of 384,709 vaccinations have been administered across the country in one year ending yesterday, with AstraZeneca being the preferred vaccine.
The numbers provided show AstraZeneca was given to 238,064 people, followed by Johnson and Johnson with 127,493 and Sinopharm 19,152.
National Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic controller David Manning said within 24 hours yesterday, 185 people had been vaccinated.
“While there has not been a lot of people coming forward to be vaccinated, we hope that they will reconsider to be vaccinated, we continue to advocate that it is your own choice to be vaccinated,” he said.
“Vaccination is still voluntary and you can still go to your nearest hospital and other locations to get vaccinated, we are not forcing anyone to get vaccinated.”
For the AstraZeneca and Sinopharm (a two-dose vaccine) 287,467 people had received one dose while those fully vaccinated stand at 224,735.
Manning, who is also Police Commissioner, said the vaccines continued to be available for those who wish to be vaccinated.
“You can decide on which vaccine you want to take and make your way to the nearest hospital or location to be vaccinated,” he said.
“I cannot stress enough the importance of being vaccinated to protect yourself and your family.”
