Bais to face Public Prosecutor

THE Ombudsman Commission has referred Department of Community Development, Youth and Religion secretary Anna Bais to the Public Prosecutor for alleged misconduct in office.
Chief Ombudsman Richard Pagen and Ombudsman Kevin Kepore in a statement said the commission had conducted an investigation and gave Bais an opportunity to be heard on all the allegations against her.
They said Bais responded to all the allegations through a written response.
Upon deliberating on the matter, the commission determined that there was a prima facie case against her.
Pagen and Kepore said Bais was served a notice pursuant to section 20 (2) of the Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership informing her of the commission’s intention to refer the matter to Public Prosecutor Pondros Kaluwin for his independent assessment.
According to the commission, it was up the Public Prosecutor to decide whether to prosecute the secretary before an independent tribunal established under section 28 (1) (g) of the Constitution and section 27 (7) of the Organic law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership.
“The allegations against Bais are centred on alleged breaches of section 27 of the Constitution and the relevant provisions of the Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership,” Pagen and Kepore said.
The commission did not disclose the specific allegations levelled against Bais.
Attempts made to get comments from Bais concerning her referral by the Ombudsman Commission were unsuccessful.

  • This lady recently called on citizens to trust the government on The National.
Now we can not trust her for her words.

  • She needs to be replaced as she has grown complacent and looks uncertain in many policy areas she administered like the Luautiim Pikinini Act and other important community development Policies like the work of the Women’s Council and National Youth Commission. She should be replaced.

  • Why is the Previous and Current government still keeping this lady for so long without any investigation on her performance. Please if found to be guilty let her go to Bomana and train some mother there and come out.
