Baki backs action taken against unit

POLICE Commissioner Gari Baki, pictured, has supported a move by National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’Dranou to sideline the police dog unit following allegations of misconduct.
He told The National that because the metropolitan superintendent oversaw the NCD police command, he had the right to make the decision to have misbehaved police officers subjected to investigation and discipline.
“The sidelining of the dog police unit by the metropolitan superintendent is just like everything else,” Baki said.
These officers were expected to do their work and they should do it diligently.
“I am not proud of the fact that you come out of the college to do your work and you go down and you start doing things to the public against what is expected of you.”
Baki said the metropolitan superintendent’s decision was his policing zone.
