POLICE officers have been urged to comply with orders as the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary is a domain for discipline.
Police Commissioner Gari Baki urged the 65 new officers who passed out from the Special Service Division training at McGregor Barracks in Port Moresby last Friday to obey orders from their authorities.
“When you deviate from orders, problem arises,” he told them.
Baki challenged the new officers to instil discipline among themselves as their passing out was the beginning of a challenging life for them.
“Do not think that just because this is a division that you just want to join, that is the end of it,” he said.
“There are more to this so I’m challenging you all to take discipline amongst yourselves.”
He told the officers that there were difficulties and demands to face.
“You are entering a domain that is a little bit different from the rest of the members of the constabulary.”
He warned them that they were going to be posted and most likely, they would not like some of their postings.
“But orders are orders and the habit of giving excuses will have to stop,” Baki said.
“If you are not yet married, I would ask that you remain that way for some time so that when you get posted you won’t use the excuse of having a family.”
At the same time, Baki said the constabulary did not have enough houses to give to all of them.
