Baki welcomes K33.9mil security network system funded by China

POLICE Commissioner Gari Baki has welcomed the security network system installed on the major roads in Port Moresby funded by the government of China for K33.9 million.
Baki, the Joint Security Operations commander for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings held next month in Port Moresby, said it would greatly improve security operations.
Baki said the short and long range surveillance cameras would monitor all activities and the movement of people in the city. They will be monitored from the operation headquarters at Oakley House in Hohola.
The security network system will be used by the National Capital District police after Apec.
The high-tech security systems will receive calls, register and monitor them.
Baki said through the security system, he would be able to know the details of crimes committed. The footages as caught on camera will be stored.
National Planning and Monitoring department secretary Koney Samuel thanked the Chinese government for the project which would support security operations during Apec.
Chinese Ambassador to PNG Xue Bing said the people and government of China have confidence that Papua New Guinea would host a successful 2018 Apec Leaders’ Meeting.
China has so far funded the Conventional Centre, rehabilitation of the Poreporena Highway, the K37.4 million mobile scanners for PNG Customs, the roads leading to Parliament, the Mt Hagen rice project, a feasibility study of the Western Pacific University, Chinese medical doctors, and training opportunities.
The Chinese Government has so far delivered 94 vehicles, 50 buses, 75 mini vans and nine fire trucks.
