IT is awesome how the betel nut ban has impacted the cleanliness of our beautiful city. The gateway to PNG has never been cleaner, but there are some pockets of society still enjoying the trade with some measure of secrecy. Can Governor Powes Parkop also ban spitting in public like in Singapore? This will go a long way as it will not only add up to the upkeep of our city but immensely reduce bacteria and other airborne diseases such as tuberculosis. Our good prime minister is at the forefront in the fight against this dreaded disease. Thus, a law banning spitting in public would be the right step.
