Bank gives new look to clinic

EAST Sepik’s Wiriu urban clinic in Wewak was given a facelift by Bank South Pacific through its community branch project.
The clinic, managed by the Catholic diocese of Wewak, was dilapidated.
BSP gave the clinic a new coat of paint, replaced all internal and external walls, fixed the leaking roof and other minor maintenance.
The diocese and the East Sepik administration thanked and praised BSP for renovating the clinic.
At the inauguration, Archbishop Anthony Burgess blessed the clinic and thanked BSP for collaborating with the community to ensure vital infrastructure such as clinics and schools remained in good working condition to serve the needs of the community.
Wiriu health extension officer Gerald Sui, who manages the clinic, was delighted at the new look clinic and praised BSP “for a worthy initiative”.
The BSP staff launched the project on May 22 and spent weekends with the community to complete renovation, fitting new walls inside and out, painting , laying new floor tiles, curtains and the list goes on.
As Wewak BSP celebrated the end of the project, Maprik BSP is anticipating commencing renovating Maprik High School’s double classroom.
More than 26 BSP community projects have been approved, with six branches having completed their tasks in Madang, Aitape, Wewak, Goroka, Kundiawa and Port Moresby.
Communities in all these areas thanked BSP for its worthy initiatives and urged BSP to continue with the projects in the future.
Projects currently progressing are Alotau, Lae, Wabag, Mendi, Kainantu, Port Moresby’s Gordon commercial centre, Lae market, Popondetta and Vanimo.
