AGRICULTURE continues to play an integral role in developing the economy and local businesses in the country.
Such was the motivation behind Bank South Pacific’s (BSP) support of K5,000 to the 2019 Karimui Conservation, Agriculture and Cultural Show scheduled from Nov 20–22 at the Karimui Station, Chimbu.
The Karimui Conservation, Agriculture and Cultural Show is amongst the hallmark agricultural shows in PNG that values and promotes local and rural agricultural products and small businesses.
BSP head of marketing and public relations Gorethy Semi when presenting the cheque, said BSP was grateful to support such events that was of benefit to the people and the country.
“As a PNG bank, BSP prides itself in supporting such shows and more over, shows promoting the diverse PNG culture and agriculture.
“These events, small or big, boost our economy and the areas that host these events through local and international tourism.
“We believe our support brings greater strides in growing agriculture from small scale to commercial agriculture in these local communities and create opportunities for local businesses.”
“We also support these events as our Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) play a big role from the hospitality industry right to the ‘markets which potentially wield a significant impact on our GDP.”
This year, BSP has committed over K100,000 through cultural and agricultural show sponsorship and we will continue to do so in the future.
