Banz family backs local female league teams

THE Banz Rugby League women’s teams Malbang and Norths got new jerseys from Nathan Wetago as they prepare to compete at the Highlands Confederate trials from August 10-11 in Goroka.
Wetago and his family donated the uniforms as their part in developing the women’s game.
“We’re doing this in memory of a founding father the late Mark Mom who played and represented Banz in the early years,” Wetago said. Wife Angie Wetago, a local woman from Banz, was proud to support the girls from her village to give back to the community.
Highlands development officer Gabriel Kiluwa said that Banz, Hagen, Simbu and Goroka take part in the trials.
