Baptism key to God: Pastor

Faith

A PASTOR has explained the importance of baptism and speaking in tongues, saying it enhances one’s relationship with God.
Revival centre of Papua New Guinea pastor Pascalis Willie said this during anevening fellowship at Nine-Mile’s Kerema block last Thursday.
Willie said this after three members of the church testified about being involved in worldly deeds until they experienced their worst encounters and then repented through baptism.
“The Bible said that we must be born again of the water in order to enter the kingdom of God,” he said refering to the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke in the Bible.
“Heaven is not for smokers, drunks and thieves nor adulterers, it is for God and he chooses who goes in to be with him.”
Willie said the three steps to salvation was to repent, baptise and to receive the Holy Spirit.
“You have to be an adult who is conscious of what is right and what is wrong in order for you to be baptised just like the baptism of John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus Christ,” he said.
“John the Baptist baptised to repent and Jesus baptised to receive the Holy Spirit.
“Speaking in tongues right after baptism is the sign of receiving the Holy Spirit.”
The fellowship was staged to offer the people respite and strength to deal with their every day challenges in the family and community.
Each testimony was alike of the practices of many youths and married couples advocating against drug and alcohol abuse, family and sexual abuse, and illness.
The fellowship which saw a crowd of children and young men and women gathering to hear the good news was concluded with dinner packs and coffee.
