Barakau women’s business receives K5,000

THE women of Barakau in the Hiri district of Central have received K5,000 start their small-medium businesses.
The Barakau Women in Business and community development association was registered on Aug 21, 2020.
President Gereana Magluyan said more than 50 women were members whose goal was to expand SMEs and community projects.’
They also want to increase the assets and investment portfolio of the association. They began with a handful of unemployed women who had undergone some kind of business training.
Deputy provincial administrator for economic services, Glen Gani said the funding was from the commerce division.
Gani told the women to use the funding and also access assistance from the Central Government’s K2.3 million at the MiBank.
A financial literacy training course will be held at Barakau village. There is also a two-week fish handling programme in the village.
