THE PNG Barramundis fell short in their Twenty-20 (T20) international decider on Friday losing the series to hosts Oman by four wickets.
Friday’s clash saw the Barramundis posted a total of 127/6 after 20 overs and despite taking out six wickets in their fielding inning, Oman surpassed the target to score 128/6 after 19 overs to win by four wickets. Head coach Tatenda Taibu said mistakes from the series were identified with the team focused to improve before their fixtures in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
“Unfortunately we lost the toss and were forced to bat. In our batting inning, we were short of 20-30 runs of what we would have liked to score or aimed to,” Taibu said.
In their batting inning, Hiri Hiri stood out for the Barramundis scoring 55 off 49 balls including five fours. Skipper Assad Vala assisted with 22 off 23 hitting three fours to add on to the total of 127/6.
In their fielding inning, Kabua Vagi Morea continued his form taking out 2/26 in four overs for the Barramundis.
