THE Hebou PNG Barramundis suffered an eight wicket rout at the hands of Namibia yesterday to slump to their second loss on the trot at the ICC World Cricket League division two tournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
PNG were dimissed for 92 runs in 23.2 overs thanks largely to a four-pronged Nambian attack that consistently picked up wickets before passing the target with 208 balls to spare.
Openers Tony Ura (0) and Jack Vare (4) had short stays at the crease while promoted middleorder batsman Kila Pala, coming in at N0. 3, struck four boundaries in his 20-ball 22 before holing out.
PNG’s batsmen found it hard to establish themselves with the only partnership of note a 6th wicket stand of 37 between Jason Kila (23) and Andrew MacIntosh (15).
In response the Africans wasted little time in asserting their dominance after an early double to Raymond Haoda Jr (2-33).
The chase was owned by Namibian No.4 Craig Williams who smashed an unbeaten 73 off 35 balls that included three 6s and 10 boundaries.
In other matches, in progressive scores Uganda  posted 249 for 7 and had  Bermuda at 63-4 in the 17th over and the United Arab Emirates (227-9) had Hong Kong 64-5 on the rack in the 20th over.
In today’s matches PNG take ICC division three rivals Hong Kong, Bermuda play Namibia and Uganda lock horns with UAE.
The WCL division two ladder has Namibia (4) temporarily in the lead followed by UAE (4), Bermuda (2), Hong Kong (2), PNG (2) and Uganda (0).
