BULOLO MP Sam Basil Jr has told Balob Teachers College students that Bulolo district will continue the work of his father, former MP, the late Sam Basil.
Basil Jr said this in relation to the Bulolo fee sponsorship programme that was established in 2010 by his father during the presentation of K136,233.24 in outstanding fees to Balob Teachers College for Wau-Bulolo students last Friday.
The Wau-Bulolo (then) students owed the college K335,680 in outstanding fees.
About K208,385 was paid on Feb 21 while the rest of the payment was made last Friday.
Basil Jr clarified to the students that outstanding fees paid were for both the students of Wau-Waria and Bulolo due to how the sponsorship programme had been operating in the years when the districts were one.
“Because of the political level and in terms of service delivery, the districts were split,” he said.
“For the students association, I have been telling the students not to split but to stay as the Wau-Bulolo Students Association, but in the case of sponsorship, it is different.
“This year, I’m including all the students from the two districts.
“Next year, I will only look at the Bulolo students while Wau-Waria students will be looked after by their MP.”
