Basil wrong to attack journos

 I READ with keen interest the commentary by Robert Salmon-Minak and also the editorial article in The National yesterday (Oct 21). It is really sad to hear the deputy Opposition leader attacking the journalists in the social media. The journalists are our mouthpiece informing us of current events and news. Like other working professionals, their jobs are quite challenging and involve risks and sacrifices. Basil’s Bulolo district development has received good coverage because of the work of media. To say bad things and personal attacks is creating enemies in the media industry. His scathing attack and personal vendetta against journalists is totally uncalled for. If Basil thinks he can bank on a change of government in two weeks’ time, my simple message to him is that his dreams will not come true. His time will come but he should show patience, respect and understanding.
