THE Basketball Federation of PNG is embarking on a sports administration development course for its affiliated member associations.
BFPNG president Nick Daroa said this while thanking supporters who helped the stranded Madang Under-18 basketballers return home last week. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the Kaugere Salvation Army, the Kaugere community, BFPNG executives, a number of former Divine Word University students, former Madang residents, media friends, Madang Basketball Association and Madang MP Nixon Duban for helping out the stranded young basketballers.
He called on all participating associations or teams to ensure that logistics and transport arrangements for events were arranged properly so that such situations would be avoided.
Daroa said the Madang players and officials had one-way tickets and could not return after the championships.
The championships was to select a squad for the Oceania U18 championships later this year.
Daroa said the team managements must be on top of all facets of logistical preparations including accommodation, meals and internal transport. Apart from developing players, technical officials and coaches, the national basketball federation is looking at upskilling administrators of the sport.
