IDUBABA will be fighting to hang on to fifth place when they face YWCA in their PNG Nambawan Trophy NCD Volleyball Association match on Saturday at the TLC courts.
Idubada will be relying on rising star hitter Emily Bae to deliver the killer blows at the net.
But the youngster will need the guidance of older teammates in setter Elvie Bae, blockers Ronda Kayak and Clara Uramani and hitters Pumai Ovasuru and Nerolyne Moaley.
YWCA, under coach Peter Miliken, is in a must-win situation, with three games to go before the semi-finals. Playmaker Grace Numa must be selective with her sets; distributing to hitters Eillie Osere, Taita Mere and Rennie Karo, while Vavine Karo and Annette Ainie occupy blocking duties.
Both sides will be throwing everything they have at each other.
In other feature women’s matches, Scorpions should tame Bullets, a heated affair is expected between U-Mi Yet and Snipers and if Vailima repeats the same performance they displayed against U-Mi Yet last week, they should turn the tables on After Dark.
In the men’s premier division, Ela Motors will have a hard time containing Vanama, U-Mi yet will be up against the undefeated and very much on the prowl Snipers, newcomers Gabagaba must get their defensive manoeuvres right to contain the Scorpions’ barrage of poisonous spikes and After Dark should stretch Vanama for a game that could lean either way.
