POLICE in National Capital District and Central have warned vehicle owners and drivers to exercise extra caution when on highways and roads in both provinces.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) NCD/Central command Anthony Wagambie Jr told The National that with the downpour experienced in Southern, “the roads will be slippery and mostly flooded with debris”.
“With the recent downpour in the city and Central, we are calling on drivers not to speed as the road is slippery and at most parts flooded with debris,” he said.
“Speeding will only risk drivers from ending up in accidents.
“There has been multiple flooding on both Hiritano and Magi highways.
“I am thankful to people living and travelling along the highway for informing others through use of social media and messenger apps.
“With the modern use of technology, information is easily shared, depending on network coverage.
“People helping people is the way to go.
“The same warning goes to those living along the coastal areas, to be mindful of the strong winds associated with the downpour.
“Take into consideration the warning by the weather bureau, do not risk yourselves by going out at sea as the chances of meeting disaster or getting lost is quite high.”
