The Bears kept their premiership hopes alive when they outsmarted Gazelle 4-0 on Saturday to seal a place in the Port Moresby women’s softball grand final.
The Bears, who lost to United Sisters in the grand final last year, now have the opportunity to exact revenge on the reigning champions on Saturday.
The Bears went down to United Sisters 11-3 in the major semifinal the previous weekend.
Even though Gazelle did not make the grand final they earned the respect of many clubs for putting up a strong showing this season.
Saturday’s affair saw the Bears get on the front foot through some strong batting.
Fielding errors by Gazelle also enabled Bears to bring home three runners on the bottom of third inning.
Gazelle had runners on the bases but failed to turn them into points.
However, the Bears’ points did not come that easy as they had to fight for them.
Gazelle were kept scoreless with all the attempts to home plate denied by poor batting and also solid outfield and in field by the opposition.
