AFTER a narrow loss to Chebu the previous weekend, Bears bounced back to thrash Mariners 7-0 last Saturday in the Port Moresby women’s A-grade softball competition at Bisini grounds.
Their 10-12 loss to Chebu only fired up the Bears, who gave the hapless Mariners a beating and move to with 28 points.
Defending champions United Sisters are still maintaining the top spot with 30 points.
From the 11 games played so far, the Bears have posted eight wins, one draw and two losses.
Saturday’s victory propelled them above third-placed Saints, who are on 23 points and Stingers, who are sitting on fourth sport with 22 points.
The Bears, led by Antonia Kinit, have proven to be one of the strongest teams in the capital women’s softball competition in the last couple of years.
Last Saturday was not the first time the Bears have won by such a scoreline; other teams have also tasted similar defeats at the hands of Kinit and her girls and more are expected.
