Bears push into top four

BEARS are the biggest mover in Port Moresby men’s softball competition after upsetting second-placed Brown Eagles 3-2 on Sunday.
Sitting second to last on the eight-team competition, Bears drew with United Brothers 7-7 and then upset Brown Eagles 3-2 to propel them to equal fourth spot with Defence.
The victory was a major boost for the Bobby Bais-led team, who showed on the weekend that they were the team to watch as the season draws near to the end.
Pitcher Anslem was in peak form, stopping Brown Eagles big hitters from advancing to bases.
Brown Eagles, who started the game off well with two runs scored in the early part of the game, could not stop Bears from coming from behind to win the match.
The loss to Brown Eagles did not make any changes to the position they hold as they are still on second spot and are joined by PNG Power, who had a good day with a big 10-4 win over Gazelle.
Gazelle had a bad day on the weekend, losing to PNG Power in the morning and the later in the day to Yokomo 2-6.
Yokomo maintained their top spot with 20 points after their win over Gazelle.
Results: (A grade) United Brothers 7 Bears 7, Defence 2 Saints 6,  Yokomo 6 Gazelle 2, PNG Power 10 Gazelle 4, Bears 3 Brown Eagles 2
