BESTA United drew 2-2 with Eastern Stars in a Telikom National Soccer League match played on Saturday at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae.

The game started with both teams displaying fast, aggressive soccer on a wet surface.

Those conditions saw two yellow cards shown – to Alex Kamen of Besta United and Theo Soejius of Eastern Stars, with Besta’s Tommy Sammy sent off for deliberately kicking a Stars player. He will be out for three weeks.

Eastern Stars opened scoring through Sam Campbell as the development side was still trying to settle down.

The Stars dominated and saw a shot from young Patrick Aisa saw the ball bounce off Besta goalkeeper Benjamin Wibert to Campbell, whose header was an inch wide.

Besta United played cool and won a penalty from referee Mairi Nori. Besta skipper Jamaal Seeto equalised from the spot.

The Stars started the second half strongly and their efforts paid off when Aisa brought home a goal take the lead 2-1.

The Stars tightened their defence as they tried to hang on with their 10-men.

The game seesawed until a hand ball by a Stars player saw Nori award a penalty to Besta United and Seeto again stepped up to secure the draw.
