Better roads equal more services

Letters

THE nation is now at the climax of knowing new 118 national leaders to represent the majority in the National Parliament, and many are racing with creative development agendas.
However, only one will win the contests of each electorate.
Here is one of the development aspirations that has the potential to create avenue for other basic services to materialise – the standard and complete road links.
Better and improved road links are the paramount pathway for other basic services to eventuate.
Unless there are good road links around the nation, many rural dwellers are missing out on the basic government services and privileges.
When and if all the road links are of standard, other basic services like health, education, electricity etc will reach the rural areas.
In other words, roads are the only link that can make it easier for other basic services to reach the majority of the people.
This would be a revelation of “equal distribution of basic services”.
Good road links can strengthen the exposure of people to the rest of the country and the world.
Through improved road links, many people can expose to the outside influences such as news, entertainment and even mindsets.
For instance, people who live along the road have advanced reasoning mindsets than those of without access to the road.
The coming government needs to consider the vast importance of standard road links in PNG for connectivity of many, and make it a development priority.
