Beware of fraudsters conning candidates

Letters

FOR those hard working people who are intending candidates and are looking around for political parties to support them, please take note of this message.
There are many fraudsters who are now moving around to collect fees and in return promise you that you will be nominated by their parties.
This is already happening in Lae.
An elderly man has illegally forged a letter head, a common seal of a party and created a business card pretending to be the president of the party’s provincial branch and is collecting K1,500 fees from intending candidates as registration fees.
If you are one of those victims, then it would be in your best interest to register your complaint with the fraud squad in Lae.
Also advise other unsuspecting candidates.
Others must be warned before many fall victims to such persons and their accomplices.
Such people use the excitement surrounding the general elections to defraud unsuspecting candidates or the general public.
Thus the public must be made aware of such practices so that no other candidates or their supporters must be defrauded.
Please take heed of this warning to prevent further theft by fraudsters.
