THERE are many individuals who make sacrifices to support spiritual development in their communities but are not acknowledged for their efforts.

One such individual is Jiwaka lad Albert Wanis who for the past five years had dedicated himself to helping the local parish priest bring change and development to his village.

Kuli parish priest Father Snierczewski Boqdan gave Wanis a new bicycle last week to thank him for his work and told the villagers of Rugist in Anglimp-South Wahgi, Jiwaka, that not many people gave their time to the church.

“Albert has over the years given much of his time to helping the Kuli Catholic parish in Tuman by assisting in manual tasks required by the community,” he said.

“During mass, Albert is always there to play the guitar and assist in the liturgy.

“Young individuals must learn to become responsible early in life to be able to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

“It is not often that people get recognition for the effort to bring change and lead by example because of outside influence.”
