Bird wants decent parliamentary reporting system for projects

A DECENT parliamentary reporting system to determine effective delivery of projects is needed, says East Sepik Governor Allan Bird.
“For example; when we deliver a K500 million project in my province, we need to come to Parliament and present a report of how that money was spent on that project,” he said.
“Right now, we don’t know how funds are being spent on projects.
“These are types of things that our people need to know.
“Right now, we are just calling the figures.
“We need reports to be presented in Parliament for us to know what the money was spent on and if it’s beneficial to the community.”
Bird told Parliament that before the Government continued to borrow money from international financial institutions, he would like a plan to be put in Parliament. “We should have a five-year plan on the floor to know how much money we will borrow next year and following years till 2025,” he said.
“I say 2025 because that is when our revenue from the resource project will come into the stream.”
